Heading to a wedding in Philly this weekend. My dearest friend is marrying into a Jewish family and this will be my first time at such an affair. It's not completely traditional, but let's just say there are production values in place that rival some, if not most, off-Broadway plays.
Not that big weddings are bad, but this one is being run by a family member and my friend is feeling more like she's tied to the tracks than being carried along them in glory to her betrothal. There's not much I can do to help ... but I am picking up an invitee at the train station for her, so at least that's something.
Then there's this in the back of my mind:
I wonder if there is anybody just loony enough to try to vent his or her frustration over events in the Middle East by trying to disrupt a Jewish wedding? Extremely remote, I know, but in these days when our moronic president has made us into the Great Satan that the world's radicals have long shreiked that we are, you just never know what sort of kooks there might be out there.
I will go and be happy for my friend and enjoy the honor of celebrating her new beginning and toasting to the happy couple's success. But I might catch myself glancing around a time or two.
